Fabrics and Finishes

Damask Cover

A damask cover is a high quality woven fabric. The better grades of damask have high cotton content.

Knitted Cover

The fabric cover of the mattress is knitted rather than woven. This gives the fabric a softer and more elastic feel.

Coolmax

A highly permeable knitted, stretch fabric with excellent heat regulating properties, which takes moisture and excess heat

Stitchbond Fabric Ticking

This fabric is produced by heat-bonding polyester and other synthetic fibres to form a sheet, which is then over-printed with the required design.

Jacquard Fabric Ticking

This fabric is actually woven from different coloured polyester or cotton fibres to create the design. Finally, the entire product is dipped and rolled to make it flame retardant.

Quilted Finish

Quilted mattresses have the outer fabric attached to the surface fillings, giving them a smoother and flatter surface. A quilted mattress will always feel plusher; because both spring unit and upholstery are released allowing them to conform to their natural deeper position.

Micro-quilted Finish

Micro quilted is the stitching design on the top of the mattress.

High loft micro-quilt/Micro-quilt loft

A mattress with continuous stitching cover with extra fillings.

Tufted Finish

Tufted mattresses have tapes passed through the mattress at regular intervals and secured at each side by tags or washers, which prevents loose fillings from being dislodged. A tufted mattress will always give a firmer feel. This is because the tufting links through the mattress, tensioning both the spring unit and surface upholstery.

Micro-Tuft Finish

A method of upholstery achieved using a modern quilting machine to give the appearance of a hand-tufted mattress. This gives less indentation to the sleeping surface than is the case with a hand tufted mattress.

Velour

Velour is a textile, a knitted counterpart of velvet. It combines the stretchy properties of knits such as spandex with the rich appearance and feel of velvet.

Faux Suede

It looks and feels like suede, but it's 100 percent polyester.

Faux suede is inexpensive, easy to clean, and it comes in a wide range of colours so you're sure to find one that's perfect for your home.

Micro-suede

Micro-suede is made from a blended fabric which is then brushed to give a suede feel. Microfibre fabrics are usually made from a blend of polyester and polyamide and have a soft finish.

Faux Leather

Faux leather is an artificial fabric with a leather-like appearance and finish. It can be made from a variety of materials, such as vinyl or PVC, and is an inexpensive alternative to real leather.
