Mattress Features
No-turn / Non-turn
Non-turn mattresses do not require the mattress to be flipped over. These mattresses only require rotation from head to toe.
Box Pillow Top
Generally considered the most luxurious of the pillow top style, the "pillow" of these mattresses is thicker and typically made of high quality foam rather than fiber.
Pillow-top layer
A pillow top is a mattress with extra layers of upholstery material sewn into a semi-attached second top. Pillow tops are visually attractive and traditionally thicker than conventional top mattresses.
Mini Pocket Sprung Pillow Top
An extra layer of pocket springs in a pillow top casing adds more comfort to a mattress and prolongs the life of the springs by sharing the weight burden.
Hypoallergenic / Anti-allergenic
These mattress are especially treated or manufactured to reduce allergic reactions. Some also have the properties to soothe
Stitched Edge/Side-stitched
Mattress sides are stitched to keep the mattress in better shape for longer. Some higher quality mattresses are hand side-stitched.
Rod edge
The thick metal rod that prevents the mattress from "spreading", where the mattress expands beyond its original size and flattens out.
Bumper Bar edge bottom
The bottom part of the divan is given a bumper bar to stop the main part of the divan rubbing against walls and prevent scuffing.
Edge Guard
A high density foam strip placed inside the edge of the mattress springs, prevents the mattress from sagging and gives both longer life to the mattress and a firmer sleeping area.
Edge-to-Edge
The outer springs in the mattress are fastened to a steel rod running all around the perimeter. This means that the whole of the surface of the mattress can be used as a sleeping area with less risk of rolling off.
